Curt Corrinth (Lennep 1894–1960 Berlin-Pankow) is one of the lesser-known Expressionist writers.
Typoscripts, letters, photographs and book editions from the collection of a relative and close friend are available for sale. It is usually not possible to date the existing typoscripts. Nor is it often possible to determine whether and where the texts were published. His many moves and experiences of flight have probably also led to much being lost.
Coming from a wealthy background, Corrinth studied philosophy and art history in Bonn. Enthusiastic about the war, like many of his peers, he enlisted as a volunteer in 1915. Following a wound and his experiences at the front, he became an opponent of the war. From 1917 onwards, he worked as an editor and freelance writer in Berlin. He maintained contact with many other Expressionist writers and devoted himself intensively to literature. After his marriage to Gertrud Brosche, he spent part of the year in his wife’s hometown of Löwenberg (Silesia). Here he built up an extensive private library, which he was later forced to leave behind when he fled. After the Second World War, he opened a small bookshop in Leichlingen, which was not very profitable. For this reason, he moved to East Berlin in 1955. There, thanks to his earlier contacts, he found better employment opportunities.
