With a 2 woodcut title vignette and numerous woodcut illustrations. 8 leaves, 110 pp., 1 blank leaf, 282 pp., 1 blank leaf, 141 pp., 1 blank leaf, 1 leaf, 95 (of 97) pp. Blind-stamped pigskin binding on 5 bands over wooden covers with 2 intact clasps. On the front cover, a gold-embossed episcopal coat of arms supralibros, framed by several borders decorated with scroll and individual stamps, bearing the initials ‘B’ and ‘A’, dated 1625.
(Rubbed, slightly bumped and spotted. Back cover with a small tear in the binding. Endpapers with handwritten notes and a note of ownership in black ink, dated 1785. Title page with water stains and brown spots, with a small tear in the lower margin and the handwritten note ‘M. M. B.’ in the lower margin. Throughout, slightly browned, with water-stained edges and occasional brown spots. Three leaves with a small tear in the lower margin. Water-stained in places on the upper spine. A tear in leaf Lll⁴ has been repaired with adhesive tape. Without the copperplate map, which is usually missing. The appendix has a large water stain. Page d⁴ of the appendix is missing. The reverse of the last page of the appendix and a subsequent page contain a handwritten statement of expenditure from the early 17th century and chronicle-like [weather] records.)

Parts 2 and 3 contain a German translation of Gasser’s “Annales civitatis Augsburgensis”, which were banned by the Augsburg Council on account of their Lutheran leanings and could not be published in their original Latin version until 1728. ‘However, it was possible … to publish Gasser’s Annals in German translation as the second and third parts of Werlich’s Chronicle of Augsburg. It was not until 1728 that Joh. Burk. Mencke published them in their original Latin form in his *Scriptores rerum Germanicarum tom. I*’ (ADB VIII, 396 ff.). The appendix contains the ‘Antiqua monumenta’, again by Welser, which were also published separately in 1686.
