Ordens-Statuten des Brandenburgischen Rothen-Adlers. Bayreuth: Johann Schirmer (1734). 35 x 24,2 cm. With 3 illustrated portraits and 2 illustrated plates. 10 leaves. Modern red leather with gold-embossed fillet on the cover, in a matching half-leather slipcase.
(The slipcase shows minimal wear. The interior has finger marks, dust, slight foxing and water stains in places. The title page has residue from an adhesive strip. A portrait at the bottom edge is marked in pencil. On the reverse of folio E¹, two names are handwritten in brown ink. The frontispiece is missing, as is another plate which is present in a comparable copy held by the Russian State Library.)
A rare edition of the statutes of the Order of the Red Eagle, founded in 1705 by Georg Wilhelm of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and revised in 1734 by Georg Friedrich Karl. It contains the order’s statutory provisions and ceremonial regulations.
