(Worn, bumped and stained. With the exception of the author’s portrait and the title page, all plates in the first volume are missing. The indexes and the title page for the appendix—which describes Grumbach’s dealings and is usually missing—are missing. Endpapers of Vol. II bear the bookplate ‘Max Eberhardt Habicht, Lucka, S. A.’ and longer handwritten entries in ink. The printed titles bear handwritten ownership marks. With a few marginal notes in black ink and underlinings in coloured pencil. pp. 1433/1434 in Vol. II have a tear in the margin; otherwise, only minor marginal damage in places. The plate featuring the triptych in Vol. II has a large backing. Slightly browned and with brown spots.)

Graesse III, 373. - The second, and at the same time first, illustrated edition of the monumental source work compiled by Zacharias Prüschenck von Lindenhoven on the history of the Schmalkaldic War (1546–1547), the war waged by Emperor Charles V against the defensive alliance of Protestant princes and cities – formed in 1531 under the leadership of Electoral Saxony and Hesse – in opposition to the religious policies of the Catholic Emperor. - The plates include, amongst other things, views of Frankfurt, Ingolstadt, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Mühlberg on the Elbe, Plassenburg Castle, Landsberg Castle and Wittenberg. Amongst the portraits are two depictions of Brunswick mercenaries.
