With embossed title page, half-title printer’s mark on the title page, 10 embossed plates and 103 text copperplates. 6 leaves, 702 (recte 700) pages, 6 (of 7) leaves. Parchment with handwritten spine title.

(Worn, with minor bumps and staining. Endpapers with wax seal residues and a stamped bookplate. The stamped title page is trimmed, stained and has worn edges. The printed title page bears a handwritten note of ownership. The errata sheet is missing. Folio R⁴ has a repaired tear in the top margin. Folio T³ has a filled-in gap in the text. Folio Hh³ has a small filled-in area in the lower white margin. Folios Bb¹ and Gg¹ have large tears. Slightly browned and with slight age spots in places. The engravings are in places faintly visible or have faded.)

Hohberg’s encyclopaedic magnum opus systematically covers the fundamentals of aristocratic land management and domestic economy, bringing together knowledge on arable farming, livestock breeding, horticulture, forestry and household management. This richly illustrated work ranks among the most important sources for early modern agricultural and economic history and was reprinted numerous times, in some cases in expanded editions.

(Heavily restored copy. Covers faded, rubbed and showing signs of scratching. Missing the engraved title page and the 10 copper plates. Some leaves have been washed; text losses have been corrected in the copy; the five missing text leaves [pp. 213/214, 315/316, 479/480, 613/614, 677/678] have been bound in as copies. According to the index, the two introductory pages to the poem ‘Georgica’ are missing; the final page is also missing here. Mostly heavily browned, with brown and mildew stains.
