Following a falling-out with his father, an industrialist, G. H. Moser embarked on an adventurous life in Central Asia. During his travels, he amassed extensive collections of art objects, hunting trophies, weapons and other items, which he displayed at exhibitions throughout Europe. He donated his collection to the Bern Historical Museum in 1914, shortly before his death.
