The four Royal Prussian Turfan Expeditions (1902–1914), led by Albert Grünwedel and Albert von Le Coq, explored large parts of the Silk Road in East Turkestan. They brought a wealth of significant Buddhist artworks, monumental murals, and thousands of manuscript fragments to Berlin, which are now housed in the Museum of Asian Art and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. This volume covers the archaeological work conducted during the second expedition from 1905 to 1907 and was published with the support of the Baessler Institute in Berlin.
