Lexikon Schweizer Bilderbuch-Illustratoren p. 10. - Grete Berg (1906–1970) was originally trained as a singer and was born in Bern. Under the name Margrit Braegger, she held engagements at the Zurich and St Gallen municipal theatres. She toured throughout Switzerland with a puppet show which she created entirely herself, from the puppets and soft toys right through to the scripts and songs. During the war, she began writing and illustrating fairy tales; she founded the children’s magazine ‘TAPS’ and continued to create stage fairy tales and Punch-and-Judy shows. After ending her singing career in the 1940s, she published her children’s books under a pseudonym. – Both volumes are printed on green paper.
