With a engraved portrait, 3 engraved vignettes and 228 plates. 4 sheets. Leather binding on 7 bands with gold-stamped borders on the cover and decoration on the spine.
(Heavily rubbed, the gold embossing almost completely worn away, scuffed, bumped, with defects and missing sections in the binding on the spine. The leather is heavily staining. The interior is browned to varying degrees and shows slight age and wear stains.)

The work documents Augustus the Strong’s famous Dresden collection of antiquities and is one of the earliest and most lavishly illustrated catalogues of a princely collection of antiquities north of the Alps. Through significant acquisitions in Rome, particularly from the collections of Cardinals Flavio Chigi and Alessandro Albani, the Dresden collection had been expanded in the 1720s to become one of the most important collections of antiquities outside Italy. - The artists and engravers include A. Werner, J. J. H. and G. M. Preissler, I. B. Probst, Bernigeroth and other renowned artists of the time.
