Bartolomeo Paoletti. Handwritten catalogue of the Gemmen collection of intaglios. (c. 1800). 21 x 15,7 cm. 12 pages of handwritten entries in Italian, in black ink. A thread-bound notebook with a green cover and an English title on the front cover (handwritten).

A catalogue of 460 plaster casts, divided into the following sections: Poets of Ancient Greece, Latin Poets, Philosophers, Generals and Rulers, Roman History, Imperial History, Ancient Works and Themes from the History of Homer, Mythology, 16th-Century Works, Copies of Monuments from Various Galleries, Museo Sommariva, Modern Works, Modern Portraits. On the last page is the note: ‘Si fanno in Roma da Bartolomeo Paoletti, e Pietro figlio, dimoranti di studio in Piazza di Spagna numero 49’ (Made in Rome by Bartolomeo Paoletti and his son Pietro, whose studio is at number 49, Piazza di Spagna). - A handwritten sales catalogue, presumably dating from around 1800, belonging to the Roman intaglio and plaster cast dealer Bartolomeo Paoletti, which offers an unusually detailed insight into the range of items in a Roman collection of casts.
