Organised chronologically and by subject, this work documents the development of the Prussian order system from its beginnings through to the reign of Wilhelm I, whilst also providing a comprehensive insight into the practice of awarding honours and the legal basis for state honours. - This copy is accompanied by one of the two supplements published (1871), which extends the collection up to immediately after the founding of the German Empire. A second supplement, comprising 12 pages and 2 plates, was published in 1900.
