Sauer 796. - First edition. - “The first attempt at a comprehensive history of Frankfurt, though it only covers the period up to 1612. Pastor Anton Kirchner’s work is the first scholarly history of Frankfurt, for all earlier accounts of the city are written in the style of a chronicle and, lacking any real critical analysis, merely set out the purely external sequence of events” (Sauer).
