Samuel Turner travelled to Bhutan and Tibet in 1783–84 whilst serving as an officer in the British East India Company. Supplemented by letters and other accounts relating to Tibet, he describes not only his encounters with the rulers of Bhutan and Tibet, but also the landscape and wildlife, agriculture, the people, their customs and traditions, religion and politics.
Published as Volume 7 of the series Bibliothek der neuesten und interessantesten Reisebeschreibungen. Bearing the collection label ‘Schloßbibliothek Petronell 32’; the original English edition was published in 1800.
