With copperplate title page, 2 folded maps, 1 folded plate and numerous engraved illustrations in the text, many of them full-page. 1 leaf, 309 pp. Brown leather with a gold-embossed title on the spine.

(Spine and endpapers replaced. Cover shows signs of age and wear, with missing sections and minor damage. Pages are yellowed and show more pronounced age-related staining. Map has been restored and mounted, with missing sections. Title page bears an owner’s inscription and has damage to the margins.)

Tobler p. 91, Röhricht 922, cf. Blackmer 297 (2nd edition). – Handwritten owner’s inscription on the title page and bookplate on the inside cover. This travelogue in four volumes was long regarded in Great Britain as the standard work on the Levant.
