Maass (Maaß) was a well-known anthropologist and librarian, whose papers are now held in the archives of the Berlin Society for Anthropology, Ethnology and Prehistory. This work was produced in collaboration with other scholars, including P. Magnus, E. Fischer, M. Weber, K. Grünberg and J. P. Kleiweg de Zwaan.
