"Japan 1911." (Title on the cover). Souvenir album. Tokyo: Azukisawa’s ‘patent oil painting on photography’ (sometimes inscribed this way). 1911. 24 x 30 cm. An album containing 50 hand-coloured photographs in various formats, including 2 panoramas. Red linen.
(Spine detached. Cover heavily scuffed. Two loose photographs at the back. Brownish stains and slightly faded. The left-hand panel of one panorama is loose.)
The illustrations include, amongst other things, various temples in Kyoto, theatre performances, Buddhist priests, the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, the Futago Islands, portraits and scenes of everyday life. Three colour photographs are included separately.
