Christian Anton Göring was a German explorer, naturalist, painter and draughtsman. In 1856 and 1866, he took part in two botanical, geographical and ornithological expeditions to South America. He worked as a taxidermist, collected rare animals and recorded his impressions in drawings and landscape watercolours. He provided illustrations for various publications, including Brehm’s Tierleben. He did not publish his own travel impressions until 1893 in Leipzig.
