Erstausgabe (unveränderte Nachdrucke erschienen 1964, 1971, 1990 und 1995). - Ingham (1900-1967) studierte am Trinitiy College in Cambridge, wurde nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg Dozent an der Leeds University, 1926 Fellow am King's College und 1930 Lecturer. Er wurde 1945 zum Mitglied der Royal Society gewählt. "This volume presents the theory of the distribution of the prime numbers in the series of natural numbers. The major part of the book is devoted to the analytical theory founded on the zeta-function of Riemann. Despite being long out of print, this tract still remains unsurpassed as an introduction to the field, combining an economy of detail with a clarity of exposition which eases the novice into this area."
