Henze III, 587-589. - Als Auftakt zur britischen Arktis-Expedition nach Grönland gab die Royal Geographical Society aus verschiedenen Zeitschriften veröffentlichte Artikel "für den Gebrauch der Expedition" neu heraus. Die gesammelten Artikel sind in die beiden Gruppen "Geography" und "Ethnology" unterteilt und enthalten Artikel von Dr. Robert Brown, Baron von Wrangell, Dr. Rink, Admiral Irminger, Markham u.a. Der britische Seefahrer Sir George Strong Nares (1831-1915) erhielt die Leitung der von der Royal Geogr. Soc. angeregten Polarexpedition, die von der britischen Regierung ausgestattet und im Mai 1875 an den Start ging.
