Three rare publications by Ivan Goll from 1920–21, which exemplify the German-French poet’s development from an Expressionist poet to an internationally connected leading figure of the European avant-garde. ‘Astral’ epitomises Goll’s visionary, metropolitan-expressionist poetry and his close connection to the visual arts. The journal ‘Menschen (Clarté)’, which he edited, attests to his commitment to cultural policy and his aim to combine modern art with pacifist ideas. ‘Paris brennt’ bears a handwritten dedication and Goll’s signature on the back cover.
