London: John Boydell (1785). 30 x 21,7 cm. An album containing 50 illustrated plates of gemstones. Red half-leather with gilt fillettes, spine title and decor.
(The cover is scuffed and has suffered more severe knocks. The endpapers have large stains. Brown spotting.)
Sinkankas 6289, Brunet V, S. 491. - Plate 32, inserted after Plate 47. The copperplate engravings by John Spilsbury. According to a prospectus in the British Library dating from 1781, this work was published in “four issues, each containing ten prints. If this work meets with the public’s approval, it will be continued, and a new issue published every three months”. A collection of 50 copperplate engravings was published in 1785.
