Marbled leather binding with a green and red spine label and gilded spine. Coloured paper endpapers.

(Some scuffing and wear; the joints are slightly cracked; minor repairs to the head and tail. In Vol. III, copperplate no. 105 / p. 253, a tear on the left-hand side. Minor signs of age.)

Ornamentstichkat. Berlin 1731. Cohen, II, 673 f. - First edition of this architectural work, which deals not only with geometry but also with trigonometry. Contains a portrait of Manesson-Mallet (1630–1706) and a portrait of Louis XIV. The intricate copperplate engravings depict measuring instruments as well as views of palaces, gardens and towns, including Versailles, Fontainebleau, Chantilly, Notre-Dame, Mont St Michel, Richelieu, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and many more.
