Cordier BS, Sp. 81. Lipperheide Le 31 (Anm.). Löwendahl 987. See Engelmann 130. - First German edition, originally published in 12 instalments. The original was published in London in 1843 under the title ‘China, in a series of views’. The steel engravings, which are reduced-scale reproductions of Allom’s illustrations, depict views of the Great Wall of China, Canton, Nanking, Hong Kong and other locations – Thomas Allom (1804–1872) copied many Chinese drawings from Sir George Staunton’s collection.
