Johann Christoph Wagner (Nuremberg 1640–1710 [?] Augsburg) came into contact with the publisher Felsecker from 1663 onwards and, from 1664, published calendars under the title Teutscher Helden und ausländischer Potentaten Lust= und Nutzbringende Historien=Calender. The calendar series continued under various titles beyond his death until 1729. He probably took up residence in Augsburg from 1680 onwards and, in addition to further calendar series, published extensive works on the history of the Turkish Wars and on comets. His historical works are brimming with remarkable stories and curiosities. This style of writing is likely rooted in his work as a calendar writer.
With its fourth volume and the rich illustrations present here, the work is extremely rare.
