From the series ‘Hamburgische Wissenschaftliche Stiftung’, though without a volume number. – First volume on the German expedition to Polynesia and Melanesia, 1908–1910. - With a foreword by Thilenius, Director of the Hamburg Museum of Ethnology; he co-ordinated the expedition from Hamburg, as he himself was not considered fit for tropical conditions. He is regarded as one of the most influential ethnologists of the early 20th century in the German-speaking world.
