From the series: ‘Geist. Kunst und Leben Asiens’. Volumes II and III. The island of Bali. Edited by Karl With. Krause was a doctor, ethnologist and photographer. He died in 1912 during a cholera outbreak whilst on a mission for the Dutch administration. He expressed his enthusiasm for photography through his photographs of the daily life of the Balinese people.
