Henze II, 725. The German naturalist, doctor and explorer became best known for his scientific work on volcanoes, plants and the geography of Java. He made significant contributions to the natural sciences and is regarded as one of the region’s most important explorers. Henze regards Junghuhn as the unrivalled master of ‘the scientific exploration and description of Java’.
